Mariachi to Perform in Washington DC for Hispanic Heritage Month

U.S. Representative Dave Reichert invited Ramon Rivera and the students of Mariachi Huenachi to perform in Washington DC to honor Hispanic Heritage Month the week of October 8, 2017 (see invitation letter below).

“This is once in lifetime opportunity for our students to play in front of Congress in Washington DC and would be a dream come true for our students,” says Ramon Rivera.

Representative Reichert visited the mariachi classroom in April and talked about bringing the group to the nation’s capital. He returned to DC and arranged for an invitation for the group.

“We have scheduled a big fundraiser with Congressman Dave Reichert and Mariachi Huenachi on Friday, August 18 at 7 pm at the Icicle Creek Center for the Arts,” says Ramon. If you would like to help Mariachi go to Washington DC with a donation you can donate on online by clicking Mariachi Huenachi Link at this website: https://wa-wenatchee-lite.intouchreceipting.com/

“I hope that we can raise enough money for the whole group to go,” says Ramon.

PS. Ramon Rivera recalls an interview with Bryce Newberry for Apple Leaf, Wenatchee High School’s newspaper, a couple of years ago where Bryce asked him what would be the biggest accomplishment for the program. “I told him one day we will perform for the President of the United States,” says Ramon. “It looks like we are getting close.
