A Message from Superintendent Brian Flones on  DACA Protections (English and Espanol)

Important Message:  DACA Protections

Dear Wenatchee Public Schools Families, Students and Staff,

I want you to know that our school district is committed to supporting every student and providing them their legal right to a free public K-12 education, regardless of their immigration status, their citizenship, nation of origin, religion, or any other legally protected status.

These are the words I spoke when the President issued an executive order restricting immigration, and these same words and promise hold true to our immigrant students and families who fall under the provisions of the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. (DACA). Regardless of any actions taken by the Trump Administration to end the protections against immigrant students under the DACA program, our schools will be a safe place for all students to learn and thrive in a setting that does not tolerate any form of discrimination, intimidation, bullying or harassment.

We understand that many students and parents may be fearful for their safety and that of their families.  We encourage any student or family to seek information and support from your school principal, counselor, or contact the school district office.

Please know that our schools and district, under the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), will not ask for nor track a student's citizenship or immigration status or disclose this information to outside entities.

We are committed to our vision and promise to put People First, and every interaction promotes personal connections with our students, families, staff, and community.  We are grateful for your support of our students.

Sincerely,
Brian Flones, Superintendent

Sinceramente,

Brian Flones, Superintendente

Mesa Directiva del Distrito Escolar de Wenatchee: Robert Sealby, Presidente, Laura Jaecks, Vice-Presidenta, Jennifer Talbot, Claudia De Robles, Dr. Walter Newman
