Michael Musick Ph.D

Michael Musick Ph.D will be interviewing for the position of superintendent on February 19th.  Musick is the first of three finalists selected by the Wenatchee School Board of Directors to interview.

Musick has spent over thirty years in public education serving as a teacher, coach, principal, central administrator, and superintendent. He earned a BA in Business Administration at Culver-Stockton College and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at St. Louis University. Musick takes pride in his efforts to be a student-focused and consensus-building administrative leader, steering ambitious educational initiatives and aligning decision-making to serve the needs of all students best, while demanding greater accountability through data-driven performance metrics. 

Additionally, Musick is a pioneer in implementing responsive programs that enhance student performance in diverse student populations, he has worked tirelessly to narrow gaps in student achievement, and he delivers nationally-recognized improvements to his schools. As a performance expert, he is adept at righting under-performing schools, resolving intractable conflicts, and fostering collaboration among community partners, educators, academic support teams and every layer of school administration — all in service of increasing student success.

Musick is currently the Interim Superintendent of Lake Oswego School District in Lake Oswego, OR.

The public is invited to meet Michael Musick during a community forum February 19th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at Wenatchee High School, 1101 Millerdale Ave.

Candidates’ interviews with the school board will occur during special meetings on each of the interview days. The special meetings will commence at 6:30 p.m. dinner at the Springhill Suites 1730 N Wenatchee Ave. No formal action will take place.  

Wenatchee superintendent Brian Flones announced his departure last spring and will conclude his career as the superintendent in August 2019. The 2018-19 school year will be Flones's nineteenth year as superintendent, and thirty-second year in the Wenatchee School District.
