The Wenatchee School Board reviewed applications for the superintendent during a closed executive session on January 22 with consultants from Hazzard, Young and Attea (HYA). The board has identified from the slate of candidates those they have chosen to invite for a first interview.
Due to confidentiality, the total number of applications is not being revealed, nor is the number or identities of the first-round interview candidates explained HYA consultants Barbara Young and Hank Harris during the January 22 board meeting.
The first round of interviews will be held during a closed session on February 4 and 5. The board will conduct the 90-minute interviews using a script provided by HYA to ensure consistency of the interviews and will later debrief with the consultants and determine which candidates will be invited for a final interview.
The names of the three or four finalists will be announced when they have been confirmed and before the second round of interviews February. 19-22.
The final round of interview includes a question-and-answer session with a 20-member “stakeholder” committee of community members, school staff, students and parents, lunch with a group of business, city and community leaders and Wenatchee High School students, an open public forum in the afternoon and a “closed” conversational interview and dinner with board members in the evening.
The public is invited to submit questions for the finalists online. Questions will be vetted by HYA for legal compliance and may be included in the public form or during a committee interview.
