New K-5 Math Curriculum Adoption Underway

Math AdoptionThe K-5 Math Curriculum Adoption is well underway. Teachers and parents representing kindergarten through 5th grade are evaluating math curriculum that is aligned to the Washington State Learning Standards.

The adoption process began last October and will continue through this spring. “Our curriculum adoption team of twenty-eight members has been diligently reviewing the materials,” says Sarah Hanchey, Director of Curriculum. “We’ve  been fortunate to have eleven programs to consider.”

The curriculums that rise to the top will be displayed in the District Office Curriculum Library for parents and community members to view from March 6th-29th (see schedule below). The Library is located downstairs at the Wenatchee School District Office at 235 Sunset Avenue, Wenatchee. A final recommendation will be announced in late March or early April.

“Our goal is to adopt the best comprehensive K-5 math curriculum to meet students’ needs,” says Hanchey. “The newly adopted math curriculum will be in place in Fall 2018 for teachers and students to use.”
