Veronica Mendoza
Wenatchee School District is pleased to announce that Veronica Mendoza has been selected to receive the Washington State Migrant Education Program’s Migrant Student Advocate of the Year’ award for the 2020-21 school year. Each year the Washington State Title 1. Part C, Migrant Education Program celebrates migrant staff who have demonstrated exceptional service and devotion while acting on behalf of the program. Mendoza has worked at Mission View Elementary for over 20 years most recently as the school’s family advocate.
“Veronica is the heart and soul of our school,” explained Mission View principal Jeff Jaeger. “She builds strong connections with our families and community to support student success. I’m not surprised she was selected for this honor, it’s so well deserved.”
The goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a GED) that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.
Mendoza will be recognized during a virtual award ceremony at the Washington State Migrant Education Programs’ annual conference on August 19.
