Wenatchee High School and Wenatchee Athletics are excited to announce the hiring of Alyssay Mena as the new Head Cheer Coach. A proud WHS alumna and former Panther cheerleader, Mena brings over a decade of diverse cheerleading experience to the program.
Mena has served as the WHS assistant cheer coach for the past three years, where she has played a key role in supporting team development, fostering school spirit, and promoting athletic collaboration. Her experience also encompasses coaching in youth leagues, as well as significant involvement in all-star, sideline, and competitive cheerleading, giving her a strong skillset in stunting, tumbling, and choreography.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alyssay Mena back to Wenatchee High School as our Head Cheer Coach,” said Wenatchee Athletic Director Eric Anderson. “Her passion for cheerleading, combined with her experience and connection to our school, make her an excellent leader for our program. We look forward to her positive impact on our student-athletes and school affinity.”
Mena currently works as a CTE paraeducator at Pioneer Middle School and is set to graduate this June from Eastern Washington University with her teaching certification.
"I am honored to step into the role of Head Cheerleading Coach at Wenatchee High School," said Mena. "As a former Panther cheerleader, this program holds a special place in my heart. I am passionate about building well-rounded athletes who lead with spirit and pride in our school and community."
Tryouts for the 2025-26 cheerleading team, with Mena at the helm, will be held later this month, May 27-30. For more information on cheerleading and Wenatchee Athletics, go to wenatcheeathletics.com.
