Dear Parents & Families

I hope that the holiday season was safe and rejuvenating for your family.  As we start 2021, we hope to see a light at the end of this tunnel.  We are excited to welcome all our students back throughout the month of January and we look forward to serving you.  We know that all students will be attending in a half day model for the foreseeable future, so we need families help to ensure that students are doing all of their iReady, Lexia, Specialists, and other assignments when they are not in class.  The student’s day does not end when they complete their in-school time!  We need your help!

Our 4th grade students will be returning to the classroom starting on Monday, January 11th.  Our 5th grade students will be returning to the classroom starting on Wednesday, January 20th (no school on January 18th & 19th for the MLK holiday).  Students will either be in the AM cohort or the PM cohort.  This assignment was mailed to your house several weeks ago.  If you are unsure of your student’s cohort assignment, please contact the office to find out which cohort your student has been assigned.  The office phone number is 662-7256.  4th and 5th grade students will remain in online learning until their in-class start date.

Please have students to school only 5-10 minutes before school starts.  They will line up in their class lines.  Please note that 4th and 5th grade students will enter on the opposite side of the building from the K-3 students.  4th and 5th grade students will enter the building through the 4th and 5th grade wing off of Hawthorne St.  Please park on Franklin St. or Hawthorne St.to drop them off and PLEASE use the crosswalk.  Our hybrid schedule is as follows:

-Monday-9:15-11:00 IN-PERSON @ COLUMBIA & 12:30 ONLINE MEETING ON CANVAS

-Tuesday-Friday-7:45-10:15 IN-PERSON @ COLUMBIA & 11:45 ONLINE MEETING ON CANVAS

PM Cohort

-Monday-9:15 ONLINE MEETING ON CANVAS & 12:45-2:30 IN-PERSON @ COLUMBIA

-Tuesday-Friday-7:45 ONLINE MEETING ON CANVAS & 12:00-2:30 IN-PERSON @ COLUMBIA

Please note the start times for your student’s in-person cohort.  Students should arrive no earlier than 5-10 minutes before the start time.  Also, please ensure students attend their online meeting.  These meetings are mandatory.  These online meetings are very important to ensure that students know what work they must complete online, how to get help, to provide intervention for struggling students, and to make sure they are ready for their next in-person session.  Thank you for helping us maximize your student’s learning!

We are headed into the coldest part of our calendar.  Students will go to recess daily so please make sure they come to school with the appropriate clothing for recess.  If you need assistance with winter wear, contact our office and Ms. Sanchez, our family advocate, will assist you!

Espero que la temporada navideña haya sido segura y rejuvenecedora para su familia. Al comenzar 2021, esperamos ver una luz al final de este túnel. Estamos emocionados de dar la bienvenida a todos nuestros estudiantes durante el mes de enero y esperamos poder servirle. Sabemos que todos los estudiantes asistirán en un modelo de medio día en el futuro previsible, por lo que necesitamos que las familias ayuden a garantizar que los estudiantes estén haciendo todas sus tareas de iReady, Lexia, Especialistas y otras asignaciones cuando no están en clase. ¡El día de los estudiantes no termina cuando completan su tiempo en la escuela! ¡Necesitamos su ayuda!

Nuestros estudiantes de 4to grado regresarán al salón de clases a partir del lunes 11 de enero. Nuestros estudiantes de 5to grado regresarán al salón de clases a partir del miércoles 20 de enero (no habrá clases el 18 y 19 de enero por las vacaciones de MLK). Los estudiantes estarán en el cohorte de AM o en el cohorte de PM. Esta asignación fue enviada a su casa hace varias semanas. Si no está seguro de la asignación de cohorte de su estudiante, comuníquese con la oficina para averiguar a qué grupo se le ha asignado su estudiante. El número de teléfono de la oficina es 662-7256. Los estudiantes de 4to y 5to grado permanecerán en el aprendizaje en línea hasta la fecha de inicio de clases.

Tenga en cuenta las horas de inicio del cohorte en persona de su estudiante. Los estudiantes deben llegar no antes de 5 a 10 minutos antes de la hora de inicio.
