What Is Dental Assisting?

Dental assistants are vital members of the dental healthcare team. They work alongside dentists and hygienists to provide patient care, manage clinical procedures, and ensure safe, efficient dental operations.

This program prepares students for entry-level employment, continued education, or advanced healthcare pathways through applied learning and clinical experiences.

What Students Will Learn

Students gain both technical and professional skills, including:

-Chairside dental assisting & four-handed dentistry

-Infection control, OSHA & patient safety protocols

-Dental anatomy, oral health & preventative care

-Dental radiography & radiation safety

-Dental instruments, materials & operatory setup

-Patient communication, teamwork & professionalism

-Medical & dental emergency response (CPR/BLS)

Learning occurs in classroom, lab, and clinical settings that mirror real dental offices.

Certifications & Credits

Students may earn or prepare for:

-Washington State Registered Dental Assistant

-CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS)

-OSHA & Bloodborne Pathogens Training

-Preparation for select DANB exams
