OP-ART GROOVY WAVES
Op-Art is abstract art that gives the illusion of movement by the use of pattern and color, or in which conflicting patterns show and overlap.
Make sure to follow the directions step-by-step or you will get lost!
STEP #1
Take an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of card stock paper, turn it on it’s side, and draw 8 or 9 wavy lines across it.
STEP #2
Draw a circle shape about the size of a quarter somewhere
on your paper (but not in the middle!). Does not have to be a perfect circle.
STEP #3
Keep drawing circles (like ripples) going out from your circle, all the way to the edge of the paper.
STEP #4
Starting at the far corner from the small circle,
LIGHTLY draw an X in every other space.
This part is tricky!
Draw the Xs LIGHTLY because you will color the spaces in later.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO HAVE TWO X SPACES TOUCHING!
IT’S HARDER THAN YOU THINK!
STEP #5
Choose a Colored Pencil or Sharpie and color in all the spots with an X.
If you haven’t drawn the Xs lightly (like I suggested above) you may have to erase them first.
STEP #6
Choose a complementary color (opposite on the color wheel) Pencil or Sharpie and color in all the remaining white spots.
When you are done with your groovy art, turn your paper into the red basket.
Make sure your name and period number is on the back!
