Westside High School was created when the Wenatchee School District saw a need for an alternative to mainstream education. Originally known as Wenatchee Valley Alternative High School, the school was initially housed in the YWCA in Wenatchee. It opened its doors in 1985 with Bob Bradford as the first principal. The school then moved into the old Wenatchee Valley College dormitories where it was located until 2013 when the school district traded properties with Wenatchee Valley College to obtain the old WVC Arts and Music building. The old building has now been beautifully renovated to become the present and long term home of WestSide; in many ways the culmination of 28 years of a vision for a permanent home.
