Mr. Johnson's Art
SPHERES ON A GRID
Op-Art is abstract art that gives the illusion of movement and depth by the use of pattern and color.
Make sure to follow the directions step-by-step or you will get lost!
This is what your final art might look like.
IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW STEP 8 BEFORE TURNING THIS IN!
STEP #1
Take a regular piece of card stock paper, turn it on it’s side, and draw 3 or 4 spheres - at least one large one and 2 or 3 smaller ones.
Johnson has the circle templates - just ask!! (See below)
STEP #2
Using a ruler, add a straight line up and down and a straight line across, meeting in the center of the circle.
STEP #3
Make two curved lines on either side of each line, evenly spaced (See image below).
STEP #4
Using a ruler, draw a grid (like a checkerboard) behind the spheres.
STEP #5
Fill in every other area on the spheres with one color of your choice (see below).
STEP #6
Pick a color opposite of the color you just used and fill in the other empty spaces.
STEP #7
Now, using the same two colors, fill in the checkerboard like the one below.
STEP #8
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!!!
Using a black colored pencil, add shadows on all of the spheres.
Don't use a writing pencil. Make sure it's a colored black pencil.
Make sure they are in the same place on each sphere!
