Superintendent Advisory Council Adds Four New Members

Wenatchee School District is proud to announce that four high school students have been added to the Superintendent’s Advisory Council (SAC) for the 23-23 school year. The council was established to ensure that students are given a voice and that their unique perspectives on issues faced by the school district are considered.

The new members are Sarahi Soperanes, a 9th grader from WestSide High School, Harrison Gale, a 9th grader from WestSide High School, Joseph “Robby” Kabatek, a 9th grader from Wenatchee High School, and Francisco “Franki” Pantoja, a 12th grader from WestSide High School. These four students were selected by the SAC and Superintendent Dr. Kory Kalahar out of a pool of twelve applicants.

On a regular basis, the SAC meets with the Superintendent to provide feedback and recommendations on issues that impact students. The council is comprised of students from WestSide and Wenatchee High School, who come from diverse backgrounds and have varied ideas. Any student, regardless of their GPA, can be a part of the council, as the aim is to include all students and their perspectives.

Being involved in SAC provides students with a valuable leadership opportunity and teaches them to be proactive in decisions that impact their daily lives. The Wenatchee School District recognizes that student voice is integral in decision-making, and the addition of new members to the SAC means that more students will be seen, valued, and heard at the highest level of decision-making in the district.
