Wenatchee Valley Tech Students Earn Top Honors at Regional Firefighting Competition

Student competitors from Wenatchee Valley Technical Skills Center took top honors at the 2019 Skills USA Firefighting Competition on Friday, January 11.

Wyatt Dietrich - Gold, Citlali Gonzalez - Silver and Sam Dotson - Bronze.

The three students will move on to the state competition for a chance to go to nationals in Louisville, Ky.

Held at the Douglas Country Fire District 2 Station One, 19 competitors from Cascade High School, Quincy High School, Yakima Valley Tech and Wenatchee Valley Tech participated in the regional event. Competition activities included a written test, skills stations and physical agility test.

“The instructors involved would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make today’s competition run very smoothly,” said Wenatchee Valle Tech Firescience instructor David Young. “To all competitors today we are proud of you and the hard work it takes to compete.”
