Most suicides are preventable and the time to act is now. Wenatchee High School is offering a free LEARN™ Suicide Prevention Training to students, staff, parents, and the public on April 28th at the Wenatchee High School Auditorium from 6-8 p.m.

WHS has been participating in the University of Washington’s School of Social Work, Forefront Suicide Prevention program which is focused on ending suicide by championing suicide prevention, leading systemic change, and advocating for the many family and community members affected. Forefront Suicide Prevention is a Center of Excellence at UW focused on reducing suicide by empowering individuals and communities to take sustainable action, championing systemic change, and restoring hope.

Forefront has trained more than 30,000 health and school professionals and community members statewide in suicide awareness, intervention, and response skills through their LEARN™ Suicide Prevention training. 

With a heightened risk of anxiety depression & suicide after a year of pandemic stress the LEARN™ suicide prevention steps will show attendees how to talk to others that may be struggling with suicidal ideation and connect them with the help they need.

“This prevention training program is essentially CPR for our mental health,” said Wenatchee and WestSide High School social service specialist, Bob Sanford. “The more people who are trained and aware the more lives we can save together!”

Social distancing, masking, and health screening requirements will be in place to ensure a safe and healthy and safe learning environment.
