Celebrating Classified Staff Week

It’s Classified School Staff Appreciation Week! These skilled professionals are involved in nearly every aspect of education— maintaining buildings and grounds, preparing and serving meals; keeping school facilities clean and orderly; assisting in the classroom; providing information technology and media services, administrative support functions; supporting families; transporting students; creating a secure and thriving learning environment and many other specialized services.

There are more than 540 classified education support professionals in WSD that support the education of our 7,500 students. They are truly the heartbeat of our schools by meeting the essential needs of our students. The COVID-19 pandemic has further emphasized the importance of our classified staff in supporting the critical infrastructure of our schools.

While classified school professionals have a breadth of unique and valuable skills, they’re not just performing the crucial technical functions of their roles; they’re often changing lives by building relationships with students. I also recognize the early mornings and late nights they spend keeping our schools running and the extraordinary efforts they put into creating and maintaining thriving environments where students feel safe, seen, and valued.

Please join me in thanking the classified members of our district team for all that they do and contribute to the education of Wenatchee’s children.
