Safety and Security

Update for August 2023 - Security Patrol RFP has been completed.  Wenatchee School District will present to the school board a contract with Pacific Security for nightly patrol and alarm response.  The contract will be presented at the August 22, 2023 school board meeting.

Safety and our promise to create opportunity and success for our students are intrinsically linked. Studies have shown that learning is much more difficult if we don’t feel safe. Our brains are programmed for survival and just can’t concentrate on academics when we don’t feel safe. Feeling unsafe is so impactful that it can outweigh every other obstacle to learning.

What helps students feel safe? Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness.  When students have a meaningful connection with our staff, when they feel seen and welcomed as part of their school community, and when they see equity in the very foundation and fabric of their school district then they can feel truly safe and can advance socially, emotionally, and academically.
