General Information: Practices are after school. Practice is instruction in the four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. All athletes must be able to swim across the pool, tread water in the deep end for one minute and demonstrate the ability to jump into the deep end and navigate back to the wall safely. Athletes unable to pass this test will not be able to participate in middle school swimming. All athletes must take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
Additional Information: Swim evaluations for each school will be done separately so check the calendar above for your school’s day. To participate in our swimming program your student must pass the Wenatchee School Districts Swim Test. This consists of: a 42 ft swim (cannot be done as an underwater swim), Jump into water over head and return to the wall safely, 1 minute treading water. We get the privilege of having 80 plus girls in our program, so to allow the best coaching experience we do separate the girls into 2 groups (Purple and Gold). We will be announcing Purple and Gold groups the second week of practice.
Practice times are listed on the calendar above. No latex caps are allowed in the pool. Silicone Caps can be purchased at WHS in the Athletic office for $10.
After practice, pick up swimmers at the pool entrance not at the athletic entrance. The pool entrance is on the back side of the school by the track and baseball field.
Athlete Responsibilities: Students must complete all athletic paperwork through our Online Clearance Processbefore they are allowed to practice. Athletes must provide their own swimming suit, goggles, swim cap and towel. Athletic shoes, shorts, shirt and/or sweats for dry land training are also needed. 8 practices are required before athlete can compete in a meet.
