Wenatchee High School

Holocaust Speaker

April 16

10:15 am - 12:00 pm

WHS Auditorium

Wenatchee High School will again be hosting a Holocaust survivor speaker from the Holocaust Center for Humanity (https://www.holocaustcenterseattle.org/) on Monday, April 16th for our juniors only. Our speaker will be Peter Metzelaar, who has come a number of times in the past (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017).

As many of you already know, in 1942, when Peter was 7, the Nazis seized Peter's entire family except for Peter and his mother. With the help of the Dutch Underground, Peter and his mother survived the war in hiding (More on him at this site: https://www.holocaustcenterseattle.org/survivor-stories/peter-m).  He is one of the Center's most popular speakers and this is always an excellent chance for students to be able to interact with someone directly impacted by the history they've learned about in class. A video of his testimony is also available here: https://www.holocaustcenterseattle.org/survivor-voices/peter-metzelaar

The assembly will run from 10:15am to 12:00pm, so students will be dismissed midway during 1st period over the intercom.
