We will help students build a strong sense of these values, effective practices in each of these areas, and an understanding of their importance in our everyday lives. We do this by teaching and practicing the following behaviors:
- Everyone works to achieve the best possible outcome
- Focus on solutions
- Everyone values each other’s perspective
- Believe we all want a best outcome rather than a bad outcome
- Ask questions to understand and learn rather than place blame and judge
- Focus on obstacles and behaviors rather than people
- Everyone is in control of their emotional responses
- Acknowledge when we are feeling strong emotions in a situation
- Prioritize communication and solutions over emotional gratification
- Everyone creates positive changes in the world around us
- Ask what we can do to help rather than assume we know the solution
- Seek out and talk to people we don’t normally talk to
