Special Programs

At Wenatchee School District, we believe every student — regardless of background, language, or circumstance — deserves a path to success. Our Special Programs Department serves students and families through Title 1A, LAP, Title 1C Migrant, and Bilingual programs, providing the supplemental support and resources needed to help every eligible student reach high academic levels and graduate prepared for college or a career.

State & Federal Programs

Every student deserves a fair shot. Title 1A and LAP provide targeted funding and support to ensure students facing the greatest barriers have equal access to high-quality education.

Learning Assistance Program

LAP is a state-funded program designed to enhance educational opportunities for students who are not yet meeting academic standards through supplemental academic and nonacademic services. Within Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), LAP services are targeted (tier 2) or intensive (tier 3) supports that are added to accelerate learning and remove barriers that prevent students from benefiting fully from universal instruction. These supplemental supports are most effective when they are matched to need, evidence-based, aligned with universal instruction, and implemented with fidelity.

Closing Education Achievement Gaps (Title1, Part A)

Title I, Part A: Closing Educational Achievement Gaps is a federal program designed to provide customized instruction and curricula that helps students meet academic standards. As the oldest and largest federal education program, Title I, Part A programs build opportunities for children whose struggles often keep them on the academic sidelines. One-third of the public schools in Washington state operate Title I, Part A programs, providing academic services to over 350 thousand students annually.

Migrant & Language Programs

Wenatchee is a community rich in culture, language, and heritage — and our schools reflect that. Our Migrant, Dual Language, and English Language programs are designed to meet every student where they are, honor where they come from, and prepare them for where they are going. Because here, every language is an asset and every student belongs.
