Wenatchee High School Sports Medicine places 3rd at State Sports Medicine Competition;  Blakney and Long Selected as Co-State Presidents

The Wenatchee High School Sports Medicine team placed 3rd as WHS extended its state record streak to 26 consecutive years of top 4 or better finishes at the 26th Annual Washington Career and Technical Sports Medicine Association (WCTSMA) Virtual State Competition April 30-May 1.

WHS juniors Lindsay Blakney and Elyse Long were selected as co-state presidents of the WCTSMA. This is the first time two students from the same school have been chosen as co-presidents of this state-wide, student-led association.

Sophomore Carly Sagerser won the co-state championship in the exercise physiology competition.  Alaura Mahler placed 6th in the medical terminology category.

Blakney and Avery Miller placed in the top 20 of the sports medicine competition finishing 11th and 13th respectively.  Nick Duke was crowned as ankle taping state champion, a first for a Wenatchee sports medicine student.

Marlene Gonzalez, Jack Clark, Lane Hansen, Itzel Torres from the WHS JV Sports Medicine team placed in the top 20.

The Panther Sports Medicine team qualified to compete at the AACI National Sports Medicine Competition later this month

AACI Regional Sports Medicine Competition (California, Texas, Washington)

The Panther Sports Medicine team placed 4th at the  AACI Regional Sports Medicine Competition in April.  The competition, which was held virtually this year, featured schools from California, Texas, and Washington.

Individually, Lindsay Blakney placed 2nd in the Dick Nelson Memorial High School Athletic Training Student of the Year competition, which was the top individual award of the event.  She also placed 6th in the sports medicine event.  The WHS Anatomage Team (Josefina Albert, Allison Clark, Nick Duke, and Lindsay Blakney) placed 3rd in an anatomy competition that utilizes images from a computerized learning system.
