Regional High School Art Show Opens at WVMCC

The 45th Annual Regional High School Art Show opened at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center on Friday, March 1st as a part of Wenatchee First Fridays, a collection of community activities on the first Friday of each month.

As in years past, WHS art students have a strong presence in the exhibit, according to WVMCC Guest Curator and former WHS art teacher Don Collins. “[The exhibit] showcases the visual creativity, skills, and imagination of students throughout the NCESD region,” said Collins. WHS students submitted pieces spanning several mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, and multimedia.

Also included in the exhibition are the completed Beauty of Bronze student sculptures. The program which allows 5th grade students to create their own bronze sculptures was recently expanded to include art students from Wenatchee High School.

The exhibit is open to the public until April 6, 2024. An awards reception will be held on March 16th from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center where Best-of-Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded in different categories. The Best-of-Show recipients will go on to compete with other Best-of-Show pieces from across Washington State. Central Washington University will also award tuition waivers to several juniors and seniors participating in the show.
