In a remarkable debut, the Golden Apple Indoor Percussion ensemble earned first place at the Lilac Invitational in Spokane on Saturday, marking an extraordinary achievement in the group’s inaugural season and first-ever competition.
The 24-member ensemble, under the direction of Jim Kovach, Blake Morrell, Lisa Zanol, and Talena Morrell, delivered a powerful and engaging performance of their show, Space Mission. With leadership support from section leaders Marcos Rios and Nathan Garcia, the ensemble captivated the audience and judges with its precision, musicality, and dynamic storytelling.
