The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) named the Wenatchee High School boys basketball team 4A Academic State Champions this month, marking a significant achievement for Wenatchee athletes both on and off the court.
The Academic State Champion award highlights a team’s dedication to balancing athletic and academic achievement for varsity athletes, requiring them to demonstrate teamwork in the classroom and collectively maintain outstanding grades. The Panther boys basketball team secured the title by achieving a combined GPA 3.742 during the winter sports season – the highest average of any 4A boys basketball team in the state of Washington.
“We are so incredibly proud of this team of young men,” said BJ Kuntz, Director of Athletics & Activities at Wenatchee High School. “The seniors have faced a lot of unpredictability in the past 4 years and have persevered to build something truly special.”
