Wenatchee's yearly Shop with a Cop event recently paired local law enforcement officers with 4th graders for a special holiday shopping spree. Each student, chosen by school counselors and staff, received a $100 Hooked on Toys gift card. Officers assisted their young shopping partners in navigating the store's busy aisles, selecting gifts, and even reaching items on high shelves. Following the shopping trip, a yellow bus transported the students to the Wenatchee Valley Technical Skills Center. There, volunteers helped wrap presents while the students enjoyed treats prepared by WV Tech’s culinary program.
This unique holiday experience, coordinated by Wenatchee School Resource Officer Corey Fuller, has been made possible for the past eleven years thanks to the generosity of Premier One Properties, the Community Foundation of North Central Washington Foundation for Youth Fund, and Hooked on Toys. The program pairs forty elementary students from the Wenatchee School District with officers, deputies, or troopers from various law enforcement agencies in the region.
