Services Available for Students and their Families Who Lost their Home in the Recent Fires

Wenatchee School District students and their families who have lost their home due to the recent fires may be eligible for McKinney-Vento services. Services include free school meals during the 2015/2016 school year, assistance in obtaining school supplies and backpacks, and transportation options to and from and school so that students may remain in the same schools they attended last year.

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act is a federal law that ensures immediate enrollment and educational stability for homeless children and youth. McKinney-Vento provides federal funding to states for the purpose of supporting district programs that serve students and their families who have lost housing.

If you or someone you know lost their home in the fires or want further information please call the Wenatchee School District Office at 663-8161.
