Volunteers needed for outdoor adventure with 2nd grade

Volunteers needed for outdoor adventure with 2nd grade

You don't need to be a scientist to help kids learn about erosion. Sign up to be a volunteer.

Wenatchee School District’s Science Resource Center would like to invite you to a day of outdoor adventure and learning with excited 2nd grade students!  Tuesday, September 29th- Friday,October 2nd, 700 students will be fully engaged in a hands-on, outdoor, STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) field experience that will explore the landforms, geology, and erosion of our foothills. They will explore, create, engineer, design, hypothesize, draw, sing, discover and finally, give service to our landscape and foothills.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to be field instructors! You do not need to be a trained scientist to teach second graders about erosion! We are looking for motivated and interested community members who understand the value field science adds to classroom curriculum.  As a field instructor, you will lead one group of about 12 students through a series of activities that weave together the answer to the essential question, “How does Land Change and What Causes it To Change?” Training will be hosted by the WSD and a video tutorial with prepared scripts will help you to be successful.

Would you like to join us, or just want more information? Once you are a registered volunteer through Wenatchee Learns, fill out the following WSD Volunteer Form to choose your dates.
