James Elwyn to be posthumously inducted into WIAA Aquatic Coaches Hall of Fame

Former Wenatchee High School educator and Panther Swim and Dive Coach James Elwyn will be posthumously inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Aquatic Coaches Hall of Fame. Wenatchee Panther swim and dive coach John Pringle will present the induction during the 4A State Swimming Finals on Saturday, February 18th, at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. The meet will start at 8:45 AM and will be live-streamed on the NFHS Network. Tickets to the meet can be purchased online at the WIAA Swim Fan website. In addition to the induction, the Wenatchee Boys' team has individuals participating in 10 events and three relays after winning the District Championship.

Elwyn passed away in June 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a teacher at Wenatchee High School for 20 years.

In December 2020, the Wenatchee High School pool was renamed the James Elwyn Aquatic Center in honor of Elwyn's significant contributions to the swim and dive program at WHS.
