Wenatchee School Board Makes History with Simultaneous Swearing-In of All Five Members

Wenatchee School Board Makes History with Simultaneous Swearing-In of All Five Members

On Tuesday, November 28th, the Wenatchee School Board made history by simultaneously swearing in all five board members, a first for the district. The election process was changed to director districts to ensure fair representation and comply with the Voters Rights Act, which resulted in all five board seats being elected at the same time.

Incumbents Julie Norton, Martin Barron, and Maria Iniguez were reelected to their positions, while newcomers Tucker Jackson and Miranda Skalisky were elected to positions #3 and #4, respectively. Norton, Iniguez, Jackson, and Skalisky were elected to four-year terms, while Barron was elected to a two-year at-large position.

The board members took the oath of office and were sworn in by the Honorable Judge Robert Jourdan just before the start of the board's regular meeting. Following the completion of the ceremony, the new board got down to work and dove into their first meeting.

Julie Norton was elected as the board president, and Tucker Jackson was elected to lead as board vice president. With a mix of experienced and new members, the Wenatchee School District board is set to make important decisions that will impact the future of education in the district.
