Bumgarner Selected as WSD Chief Financial Officer

Janette Bumgarner has been chosen as the Wenatchee School District's new executive director of business & finance and chief financial officer (CFO). The Wenatchee School Board of Directors approved the hiring of Bumgarner during a special meeting today, Friday, July 17. Bumgarner replaces former Chief Financial Officer Larry Mayfield, who retired on June 30 of this year. Bumgarner will assume her new post with WSD on August 17.

Bumgarner joins the Wenatchee School District after having served as Executive Director of Business at Othello School District. Before that, she worked as an External Business Manager for Brewster, Okanogan, Nespelem, and Lopez Island school districts. During her time at Othello, she ensured full funding was received from the state's K-3 class size compliance, helped grow the food services program to support the implementation of Breakfast After the Bell, and assisted in leading school board discussion sessions on budget and facilities.  

Originally from Peshastin, Bumgarner has strong connections in North Central Washington. She is a graduate of Cascade High School in Leavenworth and holds an Associate of Arts degree from Wenatchee Valley College, Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from Northwest Nazarene University and a Master's in Business Administration from Western Governors University.

"The selection committee was impressed by Janette's depth of experience and understanding of school budgets' complexities," said Wenatchee Superintendent Dr. Paul Gordon. She will make an outstanding addition to our leadership team and will play a pivotal role in helping move WSD forward."

Bumgarner and her husband Nick, enjoy spending time with family, traveling whenever possible, and taking their dogs Socks and Barkley on outdoor adventures. 

Bumgarner cites collaboration as one of her top values. "I feel that building relationships are the foundation for success," she says. "I'm excited to help contribute to the financial health and sustainability of Wenatchee Schools."
