Foothills Middle School robotics team clenches double state tournament qualifier

FMS Travel Teams

Robotics teams from Foothills Middle School competed against 42 teams from across the state at a contest last Saturday. 

Team 98000C: LUMINOSITY won the Excellence Award, which is the highest tournament award and combines scores from the engineering design notebook, interview, skills ranking, and qualifying match ranking. The team is also now qualified double-qualified for the State tournament.

6th-grade Team 98000B: Electric Dragons participated in their first tournament and made it to the finals.

FMS Robotics coach Brigitte Wiegand reports that in addition to technical skills, the teams displayed outstanding sportsmanship, collaboration, and a growth mindset. 

The next robotics tournament will be held at Foothills Middle School on Saturday, January 21st. The State Championship tournament will also be held at FMS on Saturday, March 11th. Volunteers are needed to help with the state tournament. Interested volunteers should contact Brigitte Wiegand at wiegand.brigitte@wenatcheeschools.org
