Random Acts of Kindness Club Brings Joy to Community with Winter Clothing Drive

The Random Acts of Kindness Club (RAK) at Wenatchee High School recently held its annual Warm Heads, Hands, and Feet drive to collect hats, socks, and gloves for those in need in the Wenatchee community. This year's drive ran from November 1 to December 1, and the club began promoting and collecting donations at Make a Difference Day at Pybus.

Once the collection was complete, members of RAK and the local community came together on a chilly December evening to enjoy a dinner and package the items that had been collected for donation. Members of the Only 7seconds Team attended the event, Kindness Counts NCW, and even a former Seattle Seahawk.

The club aimed to spread kindness by creating 100 bundles to donate this year, which was 20 more than last year. The event was heartwarming as everyone packed items to donate, resulting in 139 bundles to be presented to members of the Bruce Transitional Program this year.

The club packed up the bundles and delivered them to the Bruce Transitional Program, where residents were warmly welcomed and expressed their gratitude for the warm winter gear. The program director, Emily Snider, said that the residents were feeling the love from the community this season.

The WHS RAK Club is committed to building connections and opportunities for its members, and this annual project is just one of the ways they give back to the community. The club plans to continue the drive next year and create even more bundles to help more people in need.

If you have any questions or suggestions or would like to support the RAK program at WHS, please email Chris Hockett, RAK Advisor, at hockett.c@wenatcheeschools.org. The club is always looking for more ways to make a positive impact in the community.
