FMS 6th Graders Take a Trip Back in Time to Ancient Egypt

FMS 6th Graders Take a Trip Back in Time to Ancient Egypt

Students at Foothills Middle School in 6th-grade core recently traveled back in time to Ancient Egypt. The students created displays and artifacts, transforming their classroom into a mini museum featuring a variety of topics related to Ancient Egypt, such as medicine, children of the Nile, daily life, the afterlife, and mummification.

The idea was brought to life through the collaborative efforts of Foothills' core team teachers, Kathy Milanuk, Sarah Cabbage, Rhonda Noah, and Susan Yunker.

Parents, guardians, and fellow classmates were invited to explore the “museum” and were amazed by the presentations and displays. In fact, the students had nearly 100% participation in the project, and this was the first time families and friends were invited to attend, explained Kathy Milanuk. “The turnout was amazing, and students enjoyed all the comments and compliments they received from visitors. We saw students have a lot of passion with this activity,” said Malianuk.

6th-grade math and science classes also participated in an interactive activity at the museum. All the students had a lot of passion for the activity, and it was an incredible experience for them to see and learn about ancient culture.

Overall, the project was a huge success, and the students gained a deeper appreciation and understanding of ancient Egypt and its culture.
