A Foothills Middle School student has made her mark in the world of art by winning first place in the SkillsUSA middle school job skills demonstration for Art. Anahi Rios demonstrated her impressive shading skills and emerged victorious in the competition.

Anahi's remarkable achievement means that she will be representing her school at the Washington State Championships for SkillsUSA in March. SkillsUSA competitions provide students with a platform to showcase their hands-on skills in over 130 different occupational areas, ranging from 3-D Animation to Welding and everything in between.

SkillsUSA also helps students develop career-readiness skills such as teamwork, communication, professionalism, and leadership, which are essential for success in both career and life. The competitions provide a unique opportunity for students to interact with industry professionals and learn from their experiences.

The SkillsUSA conferences and competitions are a bustling hive of talented students and industry experts, abuzz with energy, creativity, and a shared passion for excellence. Students participate in local and/or regional events to qualify for their respective state conferences, with the winners moving on to the national level at the SkillsUSA Championships.
