Panthers Celebrate New Softball Field with Ribbon Cutting and Home Run Win

The Wenatchee Panthers softball team marked a historic day yesterday with the official opening of their new softball field at Triangle Park. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by the team's first home game, which ended in a thrilling victory against Ephrata.

The pre-game ceremony featured several highlights, including the national anthem sung by WSD 5th graders Corin Borst, Cole Pulliam, Vera Lanphere, and Calla Barshes. The WHS Air Force Jr. ROTC Color Guard presented the colors, and the ceremonial first pitch was thrown by Valley Academy student and Sun Devils softball player Kinsley Hastings to '24 WHS alum and WVC softball player Ava Brownlee.

The event also included the announcement of the John & Peggy Kalahar Memorial Softball Scholarship fund as the scoreboard sponsor, a new fund with the Community Foundation of North Central Washington to support Wenatchee softball players pursuing their education and softball careers at Wenatchee Valley College.

The Panthers capped off the celebration with a dramatic 7th-inning win against Ephrata, with freshman Adamarie Iniguez hitting a walk-off home run.
