Moses Lurber Studies Aquaculture and Raises Fish for School Lunches

Moses Lurbur is raising tilapia for school lunches

WHS junior Moses Lurbur has been interest in fish for years. He started with an aquarium at home, but as his interest grew, so did the scale (pun intended) of his projects. As a freshman in Beth Hammerberg’s agriculture biology class tried his hand at aquaculture—raising plants and fish in an aquarium. Now he’s taking advanced agriculture science, and his fish project escalated to a 50 gallon tank that houses 100 tilapia. When mature, the fish will be part of lunch for Wenatchee High School students. You’ll be hearing more about Moses and his tilapia project in upcoming WSD news.
