Hour of Code events being held throughout the district

It’s Computer Science Education Week, December 5 – 11, and schools around the district are joining millions of students nationwide and around the world in spending an hour writing computer code.

Some teachers are inviting parents into their classrooms during the school day to spend time learning code with their children. Other schools are planning Hour of Code events where families have been invited to come to school in the evening with their student(s) for one hour to learn and practice computer coding together. Families are invited to bring their own device (computer, iPad, etc.) or borrow one of from the school as they learn Coding games.

The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts.

Wenatchee School District is a proud supporter of the Hour of Code as part of our commitment to STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) and STEAM (add Arts) education.
