Board Votes to Close Columbia Elementary

After careful consideration of our budget crisis and declining enrollment, the Wenatchee School District (WSD) Board of Directors made the difficult decision to close Columbia Elementary after a unanimous vote during their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 14.

We understand this decision's significant impact on our school community, staff, students, and families. We know that Columbia Elementary holds a special place in your hearts, and we recognize the disruption this closure will cause.

However, given our financial challenges and the need to ensure the long-term sustainability of our district, we believe this restructuring is necessary. We're committed to supporting all those affected during this transition. Our other elementary schools are ready to welcome Columbia's students and families with open arms and create new, thriving learning environments for them.
