Science Resources

Our mission: The Science Resource Center (SRC) exists to ensure an equitable K-12 science education through curriculum support and a broad range of science experiences.

The Wenatchee School District Science Resource Center provides science materials and support to teachers across the district. Science classroom kits are developed, built and refurbished at this location. Many of our science kits are district constructed, based on the Next Generation Science Standards and focused on our local outdoor resources. To enhance and deepen science learning, we supplement our locally centered curriculum with materials from the Smithsonian Institute: Engineering is Elementary, and an online science program: Mystery Science. All science classroom activities are designed to be hands-on, project based, and/or STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) oriented.

Science Field Experiences for students in grades K-8 are planned and then implemented by the SRC staff. We work in partnership with a variety of local agencies to highlight the natural science here in our local area and engage students in the outdoor world. Field experience locations include Saddle Rock Trail, Dry Gulch, Horan Natural Area, Jacobson Preserve, Confluence Park, Leavenworth Fish Hatchery, Rocky Reach Dam, Columbia Fire Breaks Interpretive Center, and the Wenatchee Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center. All field experiences are curriculum embedded to reinforce classroom learning and provide a rich and meaningful real-life experience.
