Melanie Wallace

I am Melanie Wallace, MSN-ed., RN, NCSN, school nurse at Lewis & Clark Elementary and John Newbery Elementary. I grew up in Seattle, close to the airport. I always knew that I either wanted to be a nurse or a teacher – I was both when I taught my classes of stuffed animals! From high school, I first went to Highline Community College and received my RN in 1995. I then went to the University of Washington Bothell and earned my Baccalaureate in Nursing in 1997. The first part of my nursing career was spent as an endocrine/diabetes specialist nurse. In 2005, I had the opportunity to begin school nursing. That is when I realized a passion-to use my medical knowledge to help school children and families. I earned my Master’s in Nursing Education in 2021. I have National Board Certification in School Nursing (NCSN). My husband James also works for the district, as the auditorium director and theatre tech instructor at the high school. Our human children are adults now, so we have three weiner dogs and a cat at home.
