Beacon Learning Center

Beacon Learning Center is an online educational resource and professional development center currently funded through a Technology Innovation Challenge Grant from the U. S. Department of Education (2000-2005). The resources posted in the Beacon database are products of professional development activities teaching a standards-based planning model. While aligned to the 1996 version of Florida's Sunshine State Standards, they remain educationally sound resources for teachers.

BetterLesson is a social curriculum management site where educators develop and share high-quality lessons, best practices, and ideas. Featured files are broken down by elementary, middle school, and high school for math, science, social studies, and English aligned to the Common Core. (Provided by BMGF)

Dad's Worksheets

At Dad's Worksheets you can find a wide variety of worksheets to help students master their math skills. Repetition is the path to mastery, and so the logic goes with timed math tests. Maybe you’re home schooling, or maybe you’re in a district that’s gone full bore into Mad Minute, Rocket Math or some other type of timed testing. Either way, students need practice and lots of it. Nobody learns math by osmosis. Students learn math by burning up pencils and paper. This site has math fact worksheets, place value problems, addition without carrying, subtraction without borrowing, suites of multiplication tests using various methodologies, fractions and more. To get started, click on the Worksheets link in the menu to right and navigate down to some material you need. Print it out, then use the Timer to perform some tests. It’s easy!

Illustrative Mathematics

The Khan Academy is an organization on a mission. They are a not-for-profit with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free world-class education to anyone anywhere. LearnZillon

LearnZillion is a learning app that helps teachers and parents meet the educational needs of every student. We capture small examples of great teaching through screencasts and share them with teachers and students. LearnZillion’s site combines (1) video lessons, (2) assessments, (3) playlists, and (4) progress reports. The lessons are short (3-5 minutes long), produced by talented teachers, and highlight the Common Core standards. Each lesson focuses on a specific substandard. Together, playlists of lessons prepare students to apply standards to more challenging tasks. (Provided by BMGF)

Math Assessment Project

The Mathematics Assessment Project is working to design and develop well-engineered assessment tools to support US schools in implementing the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics at the secondary level. National Library of Virtual Manipulatives

The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives is an National Science Foundation supported project that began in 1999 to develop a library of uniquely interactive, web-based virtual manipulatives or concept tutorials, mostly in the form of Java applets, for mathematics instruction (K-12 emphasis). 

National Science Digital Library

NSDL - National Science Digital Library is the nation's online portal for education and research on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

North Carolina Department of Public Instruction

PSI/PMI

The Progressive Science Initiative (PSI) is a program designed to support high levels of student achievement in physics, chemistry, and biology and was developed over 10 years by teachers. This program has led to high levels of Advanced Placement (AP) participation and passing rates. Using the same research-based, successful approaches as PSI, the Progressive Mathematics Initiative (PMI) was developed by teachers to support all of K-12 mathematics. Time for Time

Time for Time is a free and informational site for teachers, students and anyone wanting to learn more about time. It was created by an elementary teacher for her classroom. All lessons contain, vocabulary, objectives, background, and links to the corresponding worksheets and games.

WatchKnowLearn.org

WatchKnowLearn.org provides free educational videos for all content areas aligned to the Common Core where applicable. The site includes videos for teachers as well.
