A New School Year

A new school year is always exciting. New classrooms, new friends, new challenges, new opportunities. This year, the Wenatchee School District has a new Superintendent, Dr. Paul Gordon, who brings a passion for connections and belonging to the district.

Dr. Gordon hit the ground running on July 1. The Board had our first meeting with Dr. Gordon and his cabinet on July 10. We agreed upon a new set of operating protocols and set the stage to begin evaluating and updating our district’s Strategic Plan.

I am excited, as President of the Wenatchee School Board, to take part in the important year ahead. We will examine and establish the priorities that will guide our district in the years ahead. As part of that process, the Board and Dr. Gordon will be out in the community, listening to Wenatchee’s hopes for our district. We want to engage parents, students, staff, and community members. We are committed to giving every child in our district the skills and tools to help them take their places in the 21st Century world. We are also committed to responsibly meeting the financial challenges facing our district with data-driven decision making, always keeping the needs of our students our number one priority.

When Board members visit Wenatchee School District’s campuses, we see dedicated leadership guiding our mission. We see talented and hard-working staff helping our students learn and achieve, and we see our kids (they’re our kids now, every one of them) -- beautiful, talented, special, ready to become the future of our community, of our world.

We’re going to do awesome things in the Wenatchee School District this year. Come to our meetings. Contact your Board members. Come meet Dr. Gordon. Join us as we open the doors on a new school year and a dynamic future.
