Wenatchee Valley Technical Skill Center Modernization
The Wenatchee School District received a $14.5 million grant from the Washington State Legislature for the modernization of Wenatchee Valley Technical Skills Center (WVTech) Buildings A and B. This project aims to modernize and improve instructional space, accessibility, and safety features to support students in various programs.
Project Overview: The proposed modernization project involves four phases:
Phase 1:
- Complete access to the mezzanine in Building B.
- Address existing accessibility issues, including non-compliance with American Disabilities Act (ADA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements.
- Improve safety features and ensure proper exiting for educational occupancy.
- Add parking to the recently purchased property.
Phase 2:
- Improve the mezzanine in Building B to accommodate classrooms and restrooms.
- Integrate new programs into the space, including the relocation of the Credit Acceleration Program (CAP) to free up classroom space for cosmology and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs.
Phase 3A:
- Improve existing classrooms in Building A and add a new classroom in the south wing.
- Relocate the certification and testing lab to make space for a future culinary classroom.
Phase 3B:
- Construct a new apparatus bay on the south end of Building A to house the program's fire truck.
- Make additional improvements to enhance the functionality and accessibility of Building A.
Phase 4:
- Relocate the culinary arts classroom and create a new professional meeting space to be used by all instructional programs.
- Improve student common areas and staff office space in Building A.
