Non-Discrimination Statement
Wenatchee School District does not discriminate in any programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal, and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
Questions or concerns about discrimination may be directed to Eric Anderson, Executive Director of Learning, Teaching and Schools.
Reporting Harassment or Discrimination
Any person may report harassment or discrimination — including sex discrimination and sexual harassment — in person, by mail, by telephone, or by email using the contact information listed for the Title IX Coordinator. Reports may be made at any time, including outside of regular business hours.
What Happens Next
After a report is received, the school and/or Title IX Coordinator will:
- Reach out to the individual affected by the alleged misconduct
- Provide supportive measures
- Explain the grievance process
- Offer the opportunity to file a formal complaint if the behavior meets the Title IX definition of sexual harassment
If a formal complaint is filed, the district will take appropriate steps to investigate. Once the investigation is complete, the outcome will be shared with all parties involved.
Appeal Procedures
If a party does not agree with the final determination, or has concerns about noncompliance with Title IX, they may appeal in accordance with:
- School Board Policy and Procedure 5011 (for staff)
- School Board Policy and Procedure 3205 (for students)
Title IX
Title IX is a federal law enacted in 1972 that states: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
