ParentSquare
All schools in our district use ParentSquare for school communication primarily with email, text, and app notifications.
ParentSquare automatically syncs with our student information system to generate an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.
ParentSquare is a safe, secure, and modern approach to communication and collaboration between school and home. Learn more and get started today by viewing our ParentSquare web page.
WSD Weekly e-newsletter
Stay in the loop on district news and information with our Friday e-newsletter WSD Weekly. WSD Weekly is sent through ParentSquare to parents and staff. Community members can subscribe by contacting our Communications department at (509) 663-8161 x33334

We've made it easier to get important information from our schools and community organizations directly to our families. Instead of sending home stacks of paper flyers, we now use a digital platform called Peachjar. This system sends approved flyers straight to our parents’ email inbox and posts them on our school websites.
Local, non-profit organizations in North Central Washington can send their flyers through Peachjar for free. This helps them share information about valuable activities with our families. Organizations that are part of a larger, national group may be charged a small fee by Peachjar.

How does the school district decide whether to close or delay school?
Our transportation department checks the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) weather updates as well as the county for road conditions. The WSD Transportation Director and Lead Mechanics drive bus routes to evaluate road conditions and contacts the Superintendent by 5 AM. The superintendent makes the final decision as to whether schools stay on schedule or close. The district will notify parents starting at 6 AM of any dealys or cancelations. Why would the district delay the start of school?
Delaying school gives the Transportation Department time to chain up the fleet. It also puts bus travel in a safer, non-commute time. The decision to delay or close school is not taken lightly. It’s disruptive for working parents that have to come up with a plan for the care of children. We recommend families of young children develop a backup plan in the event that schools are closed or delayed.
Questions? Call the Transportation Department at (509) 662-6168. The office opens at 5:30 AM.

Standard Response Protocol
The SRP is a simple, shared system for responding to emergencies. It gives students, staff, and first responders a clear, consistent set of actions and vocabulary to use during a crisis, so everyone knows what to do.We believe this protocol will help us keep our school community safe and prepared.
