Wenatchee School Bond Too Close to Call
With early returns in, the Wenatchee High School & HVAC Replacement Bond is currently a 57.76% approval, with additional ballots still left to count. At this time, the bond is too close to call. We are grateful for the participation and support expressed by voters so far.
The bond requires 60% voter approval and must meet the required turnout threshold. Ballot counting will continue over the next several days as additional ballots are processed.
“We are grateful to everyone who took the time to vote and learn about the bond,” Superintendent Kory Kalahar said. “Every vote matters, and we will continue to watch the results closely in the days ahead. No matter the outcome, we remain focused on serving Wenatchee students and supporting safe, healthy learning environments.”
The bond would replace much of Wenatchee High School and improve air quality in seven schools across the district. At WHS, the bond would create new learning spaces on the existing campus while renovating approximately 100,000 square feet of existing space, including the auditorium, gyms, pool, locker rooms, and band wing.
The bond would also replace aging heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems at Lewis & Clark Elementary, Newbery Elementary, Mission View Elementary, Sunnyslope Elementary, Foothills Middle School, Orchard Middle School, and Pioneer Middle School.
The next ballot count is expected from Chelan County Elections tomorrow afternoon. We will keep our community informed as more votes are counted.
