Sarah Knox Resigns From School Board Post

Sarah Knox, a member of the Wenatchee School District No. 246, Board of Directors since December 20017, has resigned her position on the Board effective immediately. Knox has accepted a position with Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA) a Seattle-based non-profit that supports refugee and immigrant women and families and has relocated to the Seattle area. 

In a written statement to the Board, Knox stated, ”Amazing things are going to be happening in Wenatchee schools, and while I selfishly wanted to be a part of them, I know that our schools are in incredible hands with our staff. I hope that the board takes this opportunity to build a board that more adequately reflects the diversity in our valley. Thank you for the growth opportunities I have had in the past two years and I look forward to following the achievements and growth of our great schools.” 

Knox’s resignation was accepted by the Board at their November 12th meeting. The Board will discuss the timeline for filling the remainder of her unexpired term which ends in 2022 at the board meeting on November 26. 

The application for the position is available on wenatcheeschools.org or paper copies can be obtained at the District Office, 235 Sunset Ave. 

The process for appointing a new board member consists of the following steps. 

  • Publicly posting the position and application materials
  • Review of applications by the Board
  • Interview of applicants during an open meeting
  • Appointment by the Board
