Stakeholder Feedback on Softball Complex Gathered During Listening Session

Softball parent Chad Smith points to the first base line on a draft rendering of the softball complex.

A committee of stakeholders, consisting of members from the local softball community, WHS coaching staff, and the Apple Blossom Festival, recently met with district project managers to provide feedback on the construction of a new varsity girls' softball complex and multiple-purpose fields at Triangle Park. The committee discussed various aspects of the project such as lighting, fencing, bleachers, press box, concessions, bathrooms/locker rooms, dugouts, and bullpens. In addition, consultants were able to hear from the Apple Blossom Festival about how the construction could potentially affect the parade staging that takes place at Triangle Park during the festival's two weekends. The feedback received from the committee will assist the district and construction managers in refining the plan for the overall project. The construction is scheduled to begin this spring and is expected to be completed by August 2024.
