Next school year, Wenatchee Police Officer Edgar Barajas will join the Wenatchee School District as the new Student Resource Officer (SRO) next school year replacing SRO Natalie Steele. Barajas, a familiar face in the community, has expressed a strong desire to engage with students and serve as a mentor.
Having grown up in Cashmere and attended Central Washington University, Barajas brings a deep understanding of the local community to his new role. "I have family in the district, so it matters to me to make a difference in the lives of students," he shared, emphasizing his personal connection to the SRO role.
Excited to embark on this new chapter and make a positive impact, Barajas highlighted his eagerness to start something new. After three weeks of shadowing with Officer Fuller, he is set to assume the SRO position in August 2024. Notably, Barajas brings three years of experience from the Wenatchee Police Department to his new position, equipping him with valuable insights into fostering a safe and thriving student environment. With his strong commitment to mentorship and community engagement, Barajas is poised to play a pivotal role in enhancing the well-being of students throughout the district.
